Weight Converters
Weight and mass are related but distinct: mass is the amount of matter in an object (kilograms, grams), while weight is the gravitational force acting on that mass (newtons). In everyday language the two terms are used interchangeably. The kilogram (kg) is the SI base unit of mass and the practical standard worldwide for body weight, food, and commerce. The metric system scales through milligrams for pharmaceuticals to metric tonnes for heavy industry. The United States, United Kingdom, and a handful of other countries use imperial and US customary units — ounces, pounds, and stones for body weight, short tons for industrial load. The UK and US share unit names but define the ton differently: the imperial (long) ton is 1,016 kg, the US (short) ton is 907 kg, and the metric tonne is 1,000 kg.
