Angle Converters

An angle is a geometric quantity describing the rotation between two rays sharing a common endpoint. The SI unit for plane angles is the radian (rad), defined as the angle subtended at the center of a circle by an arc equal in length to the radius — making it the natural unit for mathematics and physics. In everyday practice, the degree (1/360 of a full rotation) dominates navigation, engineering, surveying, and education. Degrees are further subdivided into arcminutes (1/60°) and arcseconds (1/3600°), used in GPS coordinates and astronomy. The gradian (grad or gon), introduced during the French metric reform, divides a full circle into 400 parts and persists in civil engineering. The mil (1/6400 circle) is used in military targeting, and the sign (1/12 circle) comes from astronomical and astrological tradition.
