Volume Converters

Volume measures the three-dimensional space occupied by a substance or enclosed by a surface. The SI derived unit is the cubic meter (m³), but the liter (L) — equal to one cubic decimeter — is the practical standard for everyday measurement worldwide. The metric system scales liter-based units by powers of ten: milliliters for medicine and cooking, liters for beverages and fuel, kiloliters for large tanks. The United States uses its own customary system of fluid ounces, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons — which differ from the British imperial equivalents bearing the same names. The US gallon (3.785 L) is about 17% smaller than the imperial gallon (4.546 L), a distinction that matters in fuel economy, recipe conversion, and trade.
